Well, it’s been a while since I blogged with regularity, so I guess it is time for an update. I have been working from home for approaching 7 months, and I am incredibly grateful to still have a job as so many people don’t. Coronavirus really has changed life, but I have always been a homebody, so it’s not all bad for me, we are all healthy and doing okay. I’m glad we have the garden though.

I have spent a lot of time out there, and have grown quite a lot of vegetables this year. As we have all been cooped up under the same roof, the garden really has been useful.

What I’m Reading – I’m currently reading The Obstacle is the Way by Ryan Holiday. I’ve fairly recently became interested in Stoicism, and this is a very highly rated book in that area. I’m around halfway through, and plan on doing a little write up of this once I’m finished. So far it is very motivational, and over the last six months I have grown to have a real interest in Stoic Philosophy.

What I’m Listening to (and watching) – I recently watched The Social Dilemna on Netflix. I have moved further away from social media and my phone in general in the last few months, making more room for some other activities I have wanted to try (painting, more Dutch, reading), but this film and the podcast by Tristan Harris, Your Undivided Attention were the nail in the coffin, for the moment anyway. I have logged out of my social media, and have no plans on returning, and weirdly I am finding it kind of freeing.

How Weight Loss is Going – At this time, it’s not. I have been eating way too much takeaway food which feels unusual, as takeaway used to be a go to when I was rushing home from work, whereas now I’m at home all the time, but we still end up with takeaway. I always (and I mean always), feel ill after it. I’m not sure if it’s the salt, the fat, both, but I always regret it. I’m trying not to stress too much about it anymore, trying to become a little more aware of what I’m thinking and feeling when I eat, I’ve found a new podcast for weight loss coaching which is interesting, it’s not really helped me as of yet but it’s not hurting! I’m still using MyFitnessPal and Fitbit, so you can find me on there. I’m intending on going back to the gym later this week, and hoping exercise (other than yoga which I do daily) gives me a bit of a push in the right direction!

Self Care – I’m still meditating daily (or thereabouts) with the Waking Up app by Sam Harris. It’s only for 10 minutes, but that little slot of time in the mornings before work and life really begins gives me some time to focus. This month I have been doing a yoga challenge too, yoga every day of the month, and as of tomorrow I will have done this. 15 minutes, after meditation, and it has done wonders for my flexibility. I’ll be keeping this up regularly after this month is up.

For an update on the blog, I have let it slide a little, which is a shame as I enjoy blogging, even if just for myself and a place to share thoughts and recipes. I’m going to keep posting, I have done so much cooking while at home, and have some lovely recipes to share.
